St. Patrick's Day Parade - a step back in time!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Yesterday was St. Patrick's Day and in most towns and cities in Ireland there is a parade through the main streets to celebrate. The local children in youth groups like drama clubs, scouts, rugby clubs, karate clubs all parade through the town. The parade in our town is absolute rubbish!!! I do not know who exactly organises this, but it seems to actually be getting worse every year! There is always just a trail of fire engines, tractors, lorries and the odd marching band!! There is also huge gaps between each float, so you may be standing for 3 or 4 mins just looking at the road!! I suppose its kind of a tradation now but you feel compelled to go even though it is rubbish! (Probably because all the shops are closed and there is nothing else to do!!)

So yesterday we took our son to see his first "parade" and here are the photos:

note for those of you living in the US or abroad Ireland is not as backward as this parade suggests - we do not travel on donkeys or drive these vintage cars ha ha!!)
